Applying for Certification
It is the policy of the Institute that an individual candidate complete an application prior to taking an examination. The application form is required and necessary for all candidates including Chapters, International Representative, or approved organizations. Additionally Chapters, International Representatives and approved organizations may submit a list of exam candidates. All applications and lists are checked for completeness and will be returned for missing or incomplete information. Additionally, on the date of the examination, candidates will be asked to complete the ISO application form.
Applications, and a list of exam candidates, must be received at least 15 business days before examination dates in the U.S. and 21 business days before examination dates internationally. The Executive Director, or Certification Associate, may approve applications received after this time due to special circumstances. All applications are accepted without discrimination. Any applications for dual examinations are accepted only with permission from the Executive Director and are subject to the availability of proctors.
An individual applicant or key contact for a group examination is sent a confirmation letter by e-mail containing Certification Examination Instructions for Candidates and Approved/Prohibited Items and Calculators for Certification Examinations. Applicants who are not accepted are notified by e-mail. In the cases where a Chapter, International Representative or other approved organization is sponsoring and examination, the Certification Associate, or designated representative, will notify the exam sponsor contact person who submitted the information that an application (or applications) are not accepted or are not complete.
