This course provides preparation for plant data collection and vibration analysis, and is partial preparation for the certification examination for the Vibration Analyst Category II. They shall be qualified to direct condition monitoring programs, perform major diagnostic efforts, and perform and recommend corrective actions and design modifications. This one-day pre-conference course will include the basics of induction, synchronous, wound rotor, and DC motor design and cover the most common failure modes associated with each. A discussion on how a combination of static and dynamic testing, including insulation testing, vibration analysis, visual inspections, and electrical motor diagnostics, can be used to detect these failures quickly and accurately and will include several case studies.
