* A candidate who fails to obtain the pass grade required for recognition may be re-examined twice, provided that the re-examinations take place not sooner than 30 days after the previous examination. A candidate who fails three consecutive attempts shall be excluded from reassessment for 12 months. Such candidate shall be required to reapply as an initial candidate. Candidates excluded for reasons of unethical behavior shall wait at least 12 months before reapplying.

Application for Examination and Certification of Vibration Analysts per ISO 18436–2:2014:

Effective Jan. 1, 2015, all certification exam candidates are required to submit VI Form CF009 a minimum of 15 days prior to their scheduled exam for verification of requirements under 18436-2 prior to stting for the exam. The updated 2014 revision of the Standard now makes minimum training and experience requirements. Candidates must meet the requirements before they will be allowed to sit for an exam, regardless of the category level.

Examination Sponsors: 

Examination sponsors are organizations or individuals authorized and monitored by the Vibration Institute to administer written certification examinations.  Examination Sponsors include technical organizations, vendors, associations, independent training organizations, government agencies, companies, and individuals that meet the requirements of ISO 18436:1.  Examination Sponsors are required to sign an agreement to follow all rules and procedures during testing and to use Institute approved materials.  At no time shall the Sponsor or Invigilator (proctor) copy or review Institute examination materials.  The Institute code of ethics shall govern the behavior of the Sponsor.  Conflicts of interest including proctoring of relatives shall be avoided.

ALL three Exam Sponsor and Proctor Form(s) listed below must be submitted to the Vibration Institute as follows:
  • U.S. certification examinations: Three (3) weeks prior to examination date

  • U.S. certification examinations – list of attendees: Three (3) weeks prior to examination date

  • International certification examinations:Four (4) weeks prior to examination date

  • International certification examinations – list of attendees: Three (3) weeks prior to examination date
