Academic Track
2012 Vibration Institute Training Conference

The Vibration Institute is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the dissemination of practical information on evaluating machine behavior, particularly concerning the science of vibration and acoustic analysis and measurement.  The Vibration Institute will introduce an Academic Track at the 2012 Vibration Institute Training Conference on June 19-22, 2012 in Williamsburg, VA.  This track will be dedicated to university research, student projects, and instructional practices. The time allotted for stand-up presentations will be 20 minutes.  Poster presentations will not be considered for this conference.  All papers (10 pages or less) will be peer reviewed by two or more reviewers, and will be published in the conference Proceedings.

In addition to paper presentations and vendor exhibits, the annual meeting will include panel presentations, keynote lectures by prominent speakers, and professional short courses.  Original papers are solicited in the general areas of, but are not limited to:

• Sound and Vibration Testing & Analysis Techniques
• Digital Signal Processing
• Vibration and Dynamic Pressure Sensors
• Predictive/Proactive Maintenance Technologies
• Random Vibrations
• Flow-Induced Vibrations
• Low Frequency Data Acquisition & Analysis
• High Frequency Data Acquisition & Analysis
• Vibration Control
• Machine Specific Vibrations (i.e. fans, pumps, motors, turbines, gear-boxes, etc.)
• Rotor Dynamics
• Structural Dynamics
• Experimental Modal Analysis

Special conference pricing is available to all faculty and student participants.  The special registration fee will be $175 for a single day of participation or $350 for the entire 3-day conference.  The registration fee includes publication costs, admittance to all meeting sessions, exhibits, continental breakfasts, breaks, lunches and social functions.   The registration fee does not include admittance to short courses.  Faculty or student participants must have a valid .edu e-mail address to qualify for this special conference pricing.
