Certification

The Vibration Institute vibration analyst certification program is the recognized benchmark and remains one of the highest standards in industry knowledge and competence among professionals in the field. In an increasingly competitive marketplace, employers, and clients seek the most qualified and knowledgeable professionals.

We are extremely proud that the Vibration Institute’s vibration analyst personnel certification program was accredited by the American National Standards Institute in March 2010. ANSI, now ANAB (ANSI National Accreditation Board) is the premier organization that coordinates the implementation of national and international standards.

Accreditation by ANAB ensures that the Institute’s vibration analyst certification program and process is fair, impartial, and consistently demonstrates the highest standards to assess the qualifications of professionals in an objective manner. For certified vibration analysts, it ensures technical competence and a measurement for advancing careers. For employers, certification validates employees’ skills and knowledge that ultimately results in better service, support, and customer satisfaction grounded in safe and effective practices.

The Vibration Institute’s Balancing Specialist program is not accredited by ANAB, but we continue to spend the same amount of time and energy on the development of this program and adherence to established standards. Our long-term goal is to have all of the Institute programs recognized as the highest standard of knowledge and competence.

We invite you to explore how certification can create a competitive advantage in your career and for your employees.

Certification Surveillance

To protect Certified Vibration Analysts who have justly earned their certification, the Vibration Institute will pursue individuals who falsify Vibration Institute certification status in any manner. If you are aware of any instance in which you believe individuals are falsifying their certification statuses, please call the Institute at (630) 654-2254 or e-mail us at information@vi-institute.org.

The Vibration Institute’s Certification for Vibration Analysts is an ANAB-Accredited Personnel Certification Program that was first accredited by the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) to ISO/IEC 17024 in March 2010. The accreditation is now from ANAB, ANSI National Accreditation Board. The four-category vibration analyst certification uses a body of knowledge compliant with ISO 18436-2 and is enhanced by a job-task analysis conducted by the Vibration Institute Certification Committee. The accreditation by ANSI guarantees that the Institute’s certification program provides fair, impartial, and equal access to certification with policies and procedures that assess the qualifications of candidates on a standardized basis. The program is governed by an unbiased Certification Committee that controls the body of knowledge and examination content. The program only uses examination items that have been statistically tested and cognitively categorized to assure fairness in assessment of skills and abilities of exam candidates. Cut score studies are regularly conducted to develop fair passing scores for a minimally qualified candidate based on standard psychometric principles.
