The Vibration Institute (VI) is a non-profit organization that has been serving the vibration community for 50 years. It fills gaps in services provided by government and for-profit organizations, and it aims to continue to serve for the next 50 years as a powerful force for positive change in society.
The VI represents the vibration analysis community which typically includes engineers, technicians, and maintenance professionals from a variety of industries, such as manufacturing, power generation, mining, and transportation, who use vibration analysis techniques to improve the reliability and efficiency of their equipment. The VI offers an opportunity share their knowledge, experience, and best practices through training, conferences, and publications. Some of the activities that the VI promotes in the vibration analysis community includes:
- Sharing information, knowledge, and best practices
- Professional development and training
- Standardization of techniques and equipment
- Networking and collaboration
- Promoting the benefits and value of vibration analysis
The VI historically has not received a significant amount of donations, therefore it must generate enough income on its own to cover expenses. In that regard it has to compete with for profit organizations in the areas of training and certification, however, the VI stands out among these companies as all of the revenue generated is invested back into the operation of the institute for the benefit of the vibration community. In addition, expenses are continually tracked and minimized for efficient operations. Another way the VI stands out is by being the only US based organization with an accredited vibration analyst certification program, and the only one globally with ANSI National Accreditation Board accreditation.
One of the key ways that the VI is able to continue its mission of advancing the field of vibration analysis and promoting the highest standards of professionalism is through the support of its individual members as well as corporate members. This support can take many forms, from financial contributions to participation in VI events and activities. As a member of the VI, individuals and companies can play an important role in helping the institute achieve its goals. By supporting the VI, members can help to ensure that the organization has the resources it needs to continue offering its accredited certification program, as well as expand its educational and training offerings.
In addition to supporting the VI, members can also support each other. The VI is home to a vibrant community of professionals and experts in the field of vibration analysis, and members can connect with and learn from each other through networking events, technical meetings, and other activities. The VI is an important resource for those who work in the field of vibration analysis, and it is essential that members support the institute, and each other to ensure that it continues to thrive. Whether you are a company or an individual, there are many ways to get involved and make a difference.
